Melbourne Mooncake Delivery - Authentic & Handmade by Amour Desserts

Looking for Handmade Mooncakes in Melbourne? You're at the right place :)
I'm Er Rin, the baker behind Amour Desserts. I grew up in Malaysia, where Mid-Autumn meant lanterns in the garden and my grandmother cutting one mooncake into eight thin slices so everyone at the table got a taste. When I first moved to Melbourne, the boxed mooncakes I found never tasted right — too sweet, and too long off the shelf.
So I started making my own, the way we do it back home.
Every mooncake here is handmade to order in our Hoppers Crossing kitchen for Mid-Autumn 2026.
Mooncake Delivery in Melbourne: A Cultural Celebration
Melbourne is home. It's the only city where our mooncakes reach you without going near a postal service, and the only one where you can come and collect them yourself.
Most of our local orders come from Box Hill and Glen Waverley — suburbs where you could walk into half a dozen shops selling mooncakes, and people order from us anyway. That's the compliment I care about. Carlton and South Yarra send a different kind of order: often somebody's first mooncake, bought for a flatmate or a partner who grew up with them.
If you're inside our delivery zone, local delivery and Hoppers Crossing pickup both run right up to the festival — well past the 6 September cutoff that applies to posted orders.

Melbourne's Mid-Autumn Festival Events
Around the festival there's usually a lantern night at Federation Square, and celebrations in Box Hill and Chinatown with performances and food stalls. Plenty of families skip all of it and just take a box to the Botanic Gardens or a local park to eat outside — which, if the weather behaves, is the right way to do it anyway. We supply mooncakes to a number of these community gatherings each year.
Melbourne's Mooncake Favorites
After a few seasons the local pattern is clear enough, and it shifts by suburb:
- Most Popular: Snow Skin Mooncakes with modern flavors
- Eastern Suburbs: Traditional Lotus Paste with Yolk Mooncakes
- Inner City: Nyonya Sambal for adventurous foodies & Lotus mooncakes
- Western Suburbs: Shanghai-style with red bean paste
Snow skin outsells everything here, which never happens interstate — it's the one thing we can't post, so Melbourne gets it to itself.
Classic Traditional Mooncakes — The Ones We Grew Up On
Our lotus paste is the one I'd serve my grandmother without apologising. We cook the paste down slowly until it's smooth and just sweet enough — Malaysians will tell you most commercial mooncakes are too sweet, and they're right, so we hold back on the sugar.
There's red bean for those who grew up on it, pineapple lotus if you like a bit of tang against the richness, double yolk for whoever fights over the yolk at the table, and mixed nuts — the flavour every uncle claims nobody eats, then quietly finishes.

Shanghai Mooncakes — Buttery Shortcrust
Shanghai mooncakes are the shortcrust ones: buttery, slightly crumbly, closer to a pastry than a classic baked skin. We fill them with lotus paste or red bean paste.
If you find traditional skins too dense, start here.

Nyonya Sambal Mooncake — Spicy, Savoury, Very Malaysian
This is the one that makes Malaysians message us.
Sambal and salted egg yolk inside a mooncake sounds strange until you remember Nyonya cooking has always put sweet and heat side by side. It's savoury, gently spicy, and tastes more like the kuih stalls of Melaka than any dessert counter.
If you know, you know.

Taiwanese 3Q Mooncakes
Red bean paste with pork floss — sweet, savoury and chewy in one bite.
Taiwanese customers tell us it reminds them of the neighbourhood bakeries back home. Everyone else just comes back for a second box.

Salted Egg Yolk Pastry Mooncakes
Flaky spiral pastry wrapped around salted egg yolk, with lotus paste or red bean inside.
The yolk should be rich and a little grainy against the sweet paste — that contrast is the whole point. We bake ours so the yolk stays golden, never chalky.

SNOWY SKIN MOONCAKES: A MODERN DELICACY
For a delightful twist, try our Snow Skin Mooncakes, also known as Snowy Mooncakes. These whimsical delicacies feature a soft and chewy outer layer made of glutinous rice flour, offering a refreshing and unique texture.
Snow Skin Mooncakes are a modern take on tradition, served chilled from the fridge — our D24 durian ones sell out first every year.

Crafted with Amour: Handmade in Hoppers Crossing
Every mooncake is made only when you order it — no preservatives, less sugar than the commercial boxes, the way mooncakes actually taste in Malaysia and Singapore.
